Geeta La Roche
Trainerin bei CITYPILATES
WHAT BROUGHT YOU INTO PILATES?
My transcendence into the world of pilates began when I was working as a physiotherapist in the U.K national health service. Pilates was a key tool in helping sufferers of back pain achieve long lasting support. I have hypermobility myself and so I started doing reformer pilates. After 30 sessions I really did have a new found functional ability to my body (and a whole new body as promised by the joseph pilates famous slogan).
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT PILATES?
I like the precision with which pilates can address many biomechanical aspects of the body. This enables us to translate it into improved function in specific sports as well as other bespoke demands of life. It is great for longevity as it helps counteract the negative effects of aging and disease. The equipment for me is the closest thing to an adult playground, simply combine with a good playlist for the ultimate feel-good effect!
WHY DID YOU BECOME A PILATES TEACHER?
After working for many years as a health professional I wanted to inject more creativity into my work helping people achieve optimal wellness. Pilates is an integral part of a 360 degree approach to health and wellbeing – for me it is the both a science and an art!
WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT YOUR TEACHING?
Although my teaching takes place in the studio my mind is focussed on bringing the benefits of the workout out into everyday life. I like to bring in themed classes to ensure the benefits work where it counts. I am also a spiritual junkie so expect mindfulness, lifestyle tips and find me ‘sound healing’ during specials!
